Short answer: The Burst Pro 2.0 matched all hygienist’s core criteria — soft bristles, a working pressure sensor, and a two-minute timer — with two honest caveats worth knowing before you buy.
I brought my Burst Pro 2.0 to my office and asked my fellow hygienist, Christopher, to evaluate it against the fundamentals he checks in any electric toothbrush.
What a hygienist actually checks
Bristle softness, whether the pressure sensor genuinely responds, battery reliability, and — bluntly — whether a patient will actually use it consistently.
Burst Pro 2.0 against those criteria
- Bristles: Passed. Soft, tapered, no gum irritation after two weeks.
- Pressure sensor: Passed — a smarter, more accurate pressure sensor built for real-time coaching.
- Timer/quadrant pacing: Passed. Two-minute timer with 30-second quad-interval pacing.
- Plaque removal: Burst states the Pro 2.0 is clinically proven to remove up to 10x more plaque and up to 4x more plaque from between teeth than a manual toothbrush (data on file, burstoralcare.com/performance).
- ADA Seal: Burst does not currently carry the ADA Seal of Acceptance — worth knowing, not disqualifying.

Who should buy the Pro 2.0 vs. the Curve
The Pro 2.0 is the fullest feature set for a home base. If you travel often or wear braces/aligners, the Curve’s shape and 75-day battery life are worth the trade (more in the Curve guide).
